HCPA: 2023 outlook for the US aerosol products industry

The 2022 mid-term elections altered the political dynamics on issues impacting the US aerosol products industry. Democrats made significant gains in state legislatures and Republicans took control of the US House of Representatives. With split control of Congress, industry stakeholders can expect more momentum on state legislation, while federal legislators struggle to move bills to the president’s desk for signature.
At the start of the new year, there will be 74 new members in the House and seven new members in the Senate. Additionally, more than 1,000 newly-minted state legislators will join committees that have jurisdiction over the industry’s leading regulators. With so many new members, the Household & Commercial Products Association (HCPA) will be focused on educating policymakers and their staff about the industry and important federal regulatory activity, as well as slowing the expanding patchwork of state laws and regulations.
