Alyne Freitas da Silva’s tenure as ABAS executive president expires
ABAS confirmed the change in a statement issued on 26 June, noting that the association continues its activities as normal with its full governance structure intact.
Da Silva served for four years and eight months, during which time she was the first woman to hold the executive presidency in the association's 59-year history.
Under her tenure, ABAS recorded a 30% increase in member companies, a fourfold increase in revenue and more than 50 partnerships.
Initiatives launched during her time in office included Aerosol Week, the ABAS Awards, the officialisation of the Federación Latinoamericana del Aerosol (FLADA), the OneCan expo and work towards a viable aerosol recycling framework in Brazil.
Reflecting on her departure, da Silva said she had fallen in love with the aerosol industry in a way she had never anticipated. "The courage to activate the heart valve and spray our best to the world," she stated, summarising the ethos she had brought to the role.
No successor has been announced.
