Explosion of aerosol cans after truck catches fire
According to ABC News a B-double truck that was carrying aerosol cans burst into flames on the Hume Highway at Yass north of Canberra. The truck disrupted traffic as explosions continued to ignite inside the truck.
Reported just after 6pm, the fire began along the Yass bypass on the highway that connects Sydney and Melbourne.
Herman van de Brug, a witness at the scene said that “every now and again” there was another explosion inside the truck that emitted more black smoke into the air, states ABC News.
A NSW Fire and Rescue spokesman told ABC News that the fire spread onto nearby grass and that NSW Rural Fire Services were working with crews to contain the grass fires.
ABC News reports that police stated officers were on the scene managing traffic past the flaming truck and that the fire was extinguished by 7:40pm on the same day.
