HCPA appoints Mike Gruber as interim CEO
The Household & Commercial Products Association (HCPA) has named Mike Gruber as interim CEO, effective 13 July, following the previously announced departure of Steve Caldeira after nearly a decade at the helm.

Gruber has served as the association's COO since his promotion to the role in April, overseeing day-to-day operations and helping to lead strategic initiatives across HCPA's advocacy, regulatory and member services portfolios.

"Mike has been an integral part of HCPA's leadership team. His deep understanding of our members' priorities, the regulatory landscape, and the Association's operations makes him exceptionally well-suited to lead HCPA during this transition," said Lisa Pankiewicz, chair of the board of directors and vice president, strategic regulatory & external affairs at The Clorox Company.

"Mike has demonstrated a strong track record of advancing key industry initiatives, including reform of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), Pesticide Registration Improvement Act (PRIA) implementation, and support for the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Safer Choice programme. The Board has full confidence in Mike's ability to ensure continuity, stability, and strong leadership for the organisation."

Gruber joined HCPA in 2022 as senior vice president of government relations & public policy, later rising to executive vice president, roles in which he helped lead the association's advocacy work drawing on more than three decades of bipartisan policy experience.

"I am honoured to take on this leadership role and grateful for the trust placed in me by the Board," said Gruber. "HCPA plays a critical role in representing the household and commercial products industry and supporting our members in a rapidly evolving regulatory environment. I look forward to working with our staff, the Board, and members to advance the Association's mission and deliver clear value."

HCPA represents manufacturers and sellers of $227 billion annually of products used for cleaning, protecting, maintaining and disinfecting homes and commercial environments, with member companies employing 308,000 people in the US.
