Henkel expects strong start to 2021

Henkel is expecting a strong start to 2021, despite the continued challenges posed by the pandemic.

The company said it expects a very strong organic sales growth in the first quarter. Preliminary figures show Henkel expects organic sales growth of around 7% for Q1, significantly above current market expectations of around 3.5%.

Against the background of the recovery in industrial demand in Q1 and based on preliminary figures, the Adhesive Technologies business unit is expected to achieve an organic sales growth of around 12.5%.

Henkel expects the Beauty Care business unit to record a positive organic sales growth of around 1%, in light of pandemic-related market ‘headwinds’.

Despite core mature markets of Laundry and Home Care starting to slow down, Henkel’s preliminary figures for this business unit indicate a strong organic sales growth of around 3.5% in Q1.

“Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we expect that Henkel will report a very good performance in the first quarter of the year, in particular, driven by the Adhesive Technologies business unit,” said Henkel’s CEO Carsten Knobel.

Henkel will provide further details and background in its quarterly statement on 6 May.
