The British Aerosol Manufacturers' Association (BAMA) has reported overall stability in the UK aerosol filling sector in 2025, with total volumes down 2% on the previous year.
BAMA chief executive Patrick Heskins described the dip as consistent with normal business cycles in a mature market. "As wider market challenges persist, it is encouraging to see consumers consistently opting for the aerosol packaging format," he said.
Personal care remained the dominant sector. Deodorants and antiperspirants, which had shown growth in 2024, fell by 5% and 1.5% respectively, while shaving preparations rose 10%, continuing steady year-on-year growth in line with trends towards clean shaving.
Household products showed an overall increase on 2024. Starches and fabric sprays were up 22%, and air fresheners recorded a small rise of 0.3% following declines in previous years. Furniture polish also showed a sharp increase, though BAMA noted this is likely attributable to a reclassification from the hard surface cleaner category rather than organic growth.
Elsewhere, paints and lacquers fell 16%, while insecticide sprays were up nearly 10%.
Aluminium continued to dominate materials, accounting for 67% of market share against 33% for tinplate.
