Tubex, Kao Corporation receive World Star Awards 2021

TUBEX Rangendingen and Kao Corporation have both been recognised in the World Star Awards 2021.

Working with Unilever, TUBEX developed a sustainable aluminium aerosol can, which is formed of 25% post-consumer recycled material. The aerosol can is 14% lighter than the previous design, thanks to a new alloy and slight modification of the can’s shape. A partial 50% internal powder coating is used, with no VOCs emitted and overspray reused. Additionally, only part of the can’s internal surface is lacquered (50%).

TUBEX's win follows its success at the International Organisation of Aluminium Aerosol Container Manufacturers (AEROBAL) World Aluminium Aerosol Can Awards in 2020. The company won the AEROBAL Sustainability Award for the Rexona Recycled Refreshed 24-hour antiperspirant, produced in partnership with Unilever.

In a LinkedIn post, TUBEX said: “We at TUBEX Rangendingen are all proud to have won the World Star Award 2021. Together with Unilever, we developed a perfect combination of a sustainable can – one step further towards our goal to produce the most sustainable aluminium aerosol can.”

Kao Corporation received a World Star Award for its easy-to-use aerosol button. According to World Star, the button is easy to press and allows the user to easily understand the spray direction. It is also easy to remove the plastic button for disposal, because of its hook shape and partial notch.
