Tecnocap publishes first sustainability report
The metal packaging company, which operates in 100 countries and has around 1,000 employees, specialises in aluminium aerosol cans.
The sustainability report is prepared in following the sustainability reporting standards of the Global Report Initiative (GRI) Standard ‘Core’. It is divided into sections, each of which deals with a crucial topic for Tecnocap and its stakeholders.
The report also concerns the sustainability strategy, responsible governance, and objectives in terms of reducing environmental impacts 2030, conforming with environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria and with the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations.
Additionally, the report includes the results of two lifecycle analysis studies: the first was carried out in Tecnocap’s headquarters in Salerno, Italy, regarding metal closures, and the second was made in Lecco, the facility involved in the making of aluminium bottles and aerosol cans, both certified by the EPD international programme.
A specific section has been dedicated to the commitment of the group during the COVID-19 crisis.
Michelangelo Morlicchio, CEO of Tecnocap Group, said: “Metal packaging represents itself as an icon of the circular economy because it’s infinitely recyclable without a loss of quality.
“Furthermore, Tecnocap’s organisational culture has always been oriented – since the company’s foundation – to the constant search for innovative solutions, able to align and integrate sustainability and growth.”
“The first sustainability report and the EPD acquired in 2020 represent qualified tools,” said Massimo Santomauro, chief financial officer and Tecnocap investor relations manager, “through which the group aims at conveying the ethic and transparent approach and its strong commitment to sustainability, capable of guaranteeing the creation of value for all the stakeholders.”
