Metal Packaging Europe welcomes new president
Graham was elected by the MPE board during its annual general meeting on 9-10 June and assumes his new role effective immediately. He is joined by two vice-chairs, Georg Kasperkovitz, president of Trivium Packaging Europe, and Paulo Sousa, managing director of Colep Packaging.
As well as serving on the MPE board for just over a year, Graham has also held the position of MPE beverage board chair and brings with him over 14 years of experience in the metal packaging industry.
He succeeds Didier Sourisseau, EMEA president at Crown Holdings, who stepped down from the position in May.
“Having served on the MPE board for just over a year, it is a real honour and privilege to have been elected as the new MPE president,” said Graham.
“I look forward to working with my colleagues in the industry and the team at MPE to build on the achievements of my predecessor, with the ultimate goal of establishing the industry as a leading force in the EU circular economy and making metal the preferred material for sustainable consumer and industrial packaging.”
Leonie Knox-Peebles, CEO of Metal Packaging Europe, commented: “On behalf of all at MPE, I am delighted to welcome Oliver [Graham] as the new president of the association.
“As a long-term member of MPE, with extensive experience in the industry, I am certain that his leadership will prove a great asset for our ambitious and expanding association and propel the industry on to even bigger and better things.”
In addition to these board-level changes, MPE also welcomed Canpack a major beverage can manufacturer, as a new corporate member. Metal packaging components manufacturer FEMM and global bottle cap manufacturer Pelliconi also joined the association as associate members.
