“Innovation is key to face the new normal”

World Aerosols spoke with Alain D’Haese, secretary-general of the European Aerosol Federation, about the impact of COVID-19 on the aerosol industry and what it means to face the ‘new normal’.

The COVID-19 pandemic has created unprecedented challenges for all sectors. How has it affected the aerosol industry in Europe?

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all areas of life and hit the global economy hard. Companies are affected quite differently depending on their locations, product portfolios and distribution channels, as well as their place in the value chain. The unknown severity and duration of the pandemic, as well as the gradual but reversible de-confinement measures that are adopted in each country, mean that it is not possible to assess the impact on the aerosol industry for the time being.

What do you feel are the main challenges facing the aerosol sector during the pandemic?
