German aerosol production fell by 5.2% last year

Although the German aerosol business has developed positively in terms of cosmetics and household product demand, IGA recorded declining production figures for last year.
Most product categories increased satisfactorily, said IGA, but production figures nevertheless declined last year, with a total of 920 million units being filled.
Production figures decreased by 5.2% compared to the previous year (2022). The largest market segment by far – cosmetics – decreased by 6.4%, with 587 million products being filled.
“The decline is based mainly on the further decline in the production of hair spray and lacquer, with -6.8% compared to the previous year, and aerosols in the ‘other’ category with a decrease of 9.7%,” said Dr Weber.
Despite this, there was an increase in the deodorants and antiperspirants category, which saw an increase of 3.2%. In this segment, 415 million spray cans were manufactured. The production of the hair foams grew by by 5.3%, which corresponded to a production volume of 20 million units.
