Empack Spraytech “to acquire Michigan production site”
The Port Huron Times Herald reported that the City Council signed off on the sale of acreage for a production site between 50,000 and 80,000 square feet from Empack Spraytech.
Ara Nalbandian, a vice president at Empack, was the signatory in the $177,100 (€162,000) deal.
Port Huron city manager James Freed said they believed Empack would invest $40 million (€36.5 million) in building an 80,000-square-foot facility with 100 jobs.
"Sophisticated jobs that'll pay a little bit higher," he told the Port Huron Times Herald. "And they intend to begin almost immediately. ... We'll set a closing date in the next couple months, and they can get started right away. ... They have many other facilities throughout Canada. This will be their first US production facility. They want to be in Port Huron because of the proximity to Canadian markets and their other plants."
The city manager added they hoped they would be up and running in two to three years.
