Ball Metalpack to launch new high-speed aerosol can line

Ball Metalpack has announced plans to launch a new high-speed aerosol can line at its can manufacturing plant in Wisconsin, US.

The steel manufacturing line is expected to be operational at the DeForest facility in the second quarter of 2021. It will be Ball third to be added within 12 months in the firm’s US plant network, joining recently added high-speed aerosol can lines at the DeForest plant at the company’s Chestnut Hill plant in Tennessee.

The new aerosol line will support customer growth in categories such as household cleaning products and spray paint, among others. To build the line, Ball Metalpack is combining underutilised existing can-making assets with new, state-of-the-art high-speed aerosol can manufacturing equipment, helping to bring the new line into production at a reduced cost and more quickly than if it had been built from scratch.

Jim Peterson, CEO of Ball Metalpack, said: “We are delighted to be able to support our customers’ continued growth with this new, state-of-the-art manufacturing capacity, and by our team’s ability to bring it online quickly and cost-effectively.

“Over the past 12 months, our aerosol can demand has grown by double-digits, and with long-term customer contracts in place, we see no sign of this trend slowing down, even after the COVID-19 pandemic eases.”

The company will add around 20 additional employees to the 90 working at the DeForest plant now.
