The International Organisation of Aluminium Aerosol Container Manufacturers (AEROBAL) has announced the winners of its World Aluminium Aerosol Can Award 2025, with prizes awarded across three categories recognising design excellence, innovation and sustainability.
The winners were revealed at AEROBAL's General Assembly in Paris in early February. In a departure from previous years, member companies voted directly for the best entries rather than a jury of specialist journalists — a change introduced, according to Secretary General Seifeldin Raslan Mohamed, to strengthen member involvement and transparency.
Already on the Market
Two products shared first place in this category. Turkish manufacturer Aryum took joint top honours for its aluminium cans produced for the Hot Black Collection by Bernard Dimitri, a brand belonging to the Shaikh Mohd Saeed Group, a UAE-based perfume company with roots dating back to 1954.
The range comprises four distinctive 200ml perfumed body spray cans, each upgraded from standard packaging to 360° embossed aluminium cans to reinforce brand identity and shelf appeal.
A particularly striking detail is the embossed "HOT" on the base of each can. The embossing also serves a practical purpose, helping distinguish the collection from imitations.
The joint winner was Gulf Cans of the United Arab Emirates, recognised for its packaging for the EGOX PURE anti-perspirant deodorant range from Algeria's market-leading cosmetics company.
The brief called for a design that was understated yet distinctive, and the result is a slender, elongated can with sharp, clean lines evoking femininity without excess.
A blue spray cap echoes the EGOX logotype, with colour variations across the range corresponding to individual fragrance notes. Judges noted the exceptional printing quality and premium finish on the elegant white surface.
Prototype
The prototype award went to Trivium Packaging Brasil for a new aluminium can design created for adidas. The brief required strong shelf presence, a modern visual identity and a nod to retro aesthetics — all while improving sustainability credentials. Trivium's solution features a small-dot pattern that adds depth to the background, with a special ink achieving seamless metallic colour blending.
On the sustainability side, the project delivered substantial gains. Trivium reduced the can's weight by 25 per cent through an advanced aluminium alloy and a process that eliminates traditional ingot fusion, cutting carbon emissions by more than 50 per cent. The internal coating was also reduced by 50 per cent, significantly lowering VOC and CO₂ emissions.
Sustainability
Ball Corporation of the United States won the sustainability category for what AEROBAL described as a landmark development in aerosol packaging: the first ultra-low carbon aerosol can made with ELYSIS® aluminium, produced in collaboration with Alcoa and Unilever.
