Last year, Brazil's aerosol association – Associação Brasileira de Aerossóis e Saneantes Domissanitários (ABAS) – appointed Alyne Freitas Silva as president for 2024/25. She reveals more to World Aerosols about her journey so far, and her focus for the organisation
Beginning her career as a chemical engineer for Liquigás, Freitas Silva worked on implementing the first hydrocarbon propellant purification plant and its quality control system in Brazil.
“Although I have an important technical background, my great passion was consolidated with people management when I took on my first leadership role as supervisor,” she said.
This enabled her to develop experience in commercial interaction with most of the fillers and brand owners in the aerosol market.
Ten years ago, the Brazilian market produced 50% of the volume of aerosols sold in the country (around 480 million cans), with the rest being important from Argentina, added Freitas Silva.
