ABAS celebrates first Aerosol Innovation Conference
Organised by ABAS (the Brazilian Aerosol Association), the event brought together leaders, experts, and national and international companies to celebrate innovation, sustainability, and excellence in the aerosol sector.
The Brazilian aerosol industry is the 4th largest producer in the world (1.3 billion aerosols and R$ 28 billion in 2022) and is expected to become the 3rd largest within about five years, establishing Brazil as a global reference in the industry.
The event was marked by a vibrant atmosphere of innovation, with leading companies competing for awards in five categories: Aerosol of the Year, Aerosol Packaging, Sustainability, Safety, Process and Training, and Arts & Creativity.
Companies shaping the future of the aerosol sector in Brazil were recognised for their outstanding contributions.

Additionally, the event honoured the Personalities of the Year, with the award presented to Marcos Serafim, Jorge Angel, and Rafael Silveira, prominent figures in the sector who have significantly contributed to the advancement of the aerosol industry in Brazil.
Talks and panels
The ABAS Awards 2024 also served as a space for learning and knowledge exchange, featuring a rich lineup of talks and panels presented by some of the biggest names in the sector. Among the international speakers were:
• Alain D'haese – 2nd Secretary General of FEA (European Aerosol Federation), delivering the talk European Union: Market Overview - Future of the Aerosol - Main Challenges (online participation).
• Nicholas Georges – Senior Vice President of Scientific and International Affairs at HCPA, discussing U.S. Aerosol Market - Current Market Dynamics and Looking Towards the Future (online participation).
• Patrick Heskins – CEO of BAMA UK, addressing Aerosol Challenges and Innovation Opportunities
• Gergely Zámbó and Réti Andor – Co-Founders of Respray, Hungary, presenting Respray - The World's First Refillable Spray Deodorant.
• Birgit Gruber – EVP Sales of AFA Dispensing Group B.V., with a talk on FLAIROSOL - Innovative Alternative Aerosol Dispenser.
• Juan Buenfil – President of FLADA, sharing insights on the Latin American Aerosol Market.
On the national stage, the programme featured Alyne Freitas, president of ABAS, who provided valuable insights into The New ABAS 2024 and Brazil Market. Additionally, key panels addressed important topics for the sector's future, such as Sustainability Panel, with Thais Fagury, executive president of ABEAÇO; Camile Almeida, public relations manager; and Fabio Brasiliano, director of Sustainable Development.
Rodrigo Ottoni, general manager of Cosmetics and Sanitizers at ANVISA, spoke The Innovation Policy of ANVISA.
Another highlight was the panel on Innovation and Sustainability Cases in Brazil, featuring Rafael Silveira, Head of Packaging Development at Beiersdorf; Renato Wakimoto, director of Industrial Engineering at Coty; Franciele Saorin, Product Intelligence and Research Specialist III (Scientist) at Grupo Boticário; and Anna Niemiec, R&D manager at Reckitt Industrial.
The event concluded with a lively celebration featuring a samba group, bringing all the joy and energy of Brazil to the closing of the conference. This unique moment reflected the spirit of innovation and unity that permeates the aerosol sector in the country, sealing the event's success and the strength of the sector on the global stage.
