A wave of change in India

Gopal N. Nemlekar, CEO of caps, closures and moulds manufacturer Media Manoeuvre, provides an update on the Indian aerosol industry.

Over the past few years, the Indian aerosol industry has grown by leaps and bounds and has become a behemoth today. Among the various segments, aerosol has had a significant impact in personal care, thanks to deodorants and household products.

Many products in these segments have become a part of people’s day to day life. In early 2019, we saw new products being introduced in the health and hygiene segments. Though just at concept stage today, in the next few years, the sector will establish itself by first creating awareness and slowly becoming a necessity in day to day life.

This, ultimately, could result in a significant market share. Unfortunately, the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020 saw the COVID-19 pandemic hitting not only India but also the entire world. Such was the impact of the catastrophe that within no time it had spread across the globe. The effect was so horrific that within a couple of months, millions of people were affected and over 300,000 people died.
