15 students treated for ‘respiratory irritation’ following aerosol body spray incident

Fifteen students at a school in Manatee County, Florida were treated for ‘respiratory irritation’ following an aerosol-related incident. The students were on their bus journey home from Buffalo Creek Middle School when someone sprayed an ‘excessive amount’ of aerosol body spray, according to a report by Yahoo.

The school bus, which was carrying 30 students at the time, stopped to evacuate all passengers and wait for emergency responders. The Parrish Fire District responded to a ‘hazardous materials incident’ and described the event in detail via a Facebook post, Yahoo reported:

“Crews arrived on scene to find fifteen students with mild respiratory irritation. All students were triaged and prioritised according to their initial complaint

“At this time, the incident is being ruled a prank, as a deodorant/aerosol body spray was discharged on the bus. This is still an active ongoing investigation in which bus cameras will be reviewed and further interviews conducted.”

According to reports, the aerosol spray used on the bus was an Axe (Lynx) body spray.
